I have had two children have their wisdom teeth out without an issue having all the charges covered by my dental insurance, Met Life. For my third, I used Dr. Velez as my normal oral surgeon was on vacation. This office charged for a procedure code that Met Life Stated was not a dental procedure necessary for the extraction. The office charged $168 for this line item and Met Life stated that since it was not a dental procedure the office is allowed to balance bill, and I am responsible for the entire $168 amount. I'm filling a claim with the Georgia Dental Association regarding Dr. Velez. I hope you will read between the lines because I don't want to make this into a drama. I wish someone had warned me, therefore, I am writing this post. I discovered his calibre before making a big mistake in his chair. Sorry....just too many details.

All three of my children have had their wisdom teeth out with Dr Velez, our most recent experience with my youngest was just as great as the first one several years ago. He and his staff at Atlanta Oral and Facial Surgery were fabulous, clearly explaining the procedure and follow up care. They called to be sure my son was doing well afterward and to be sure we didn't have any questions or concerns. I highly recommend Dr Velez.

Dr. Velez himself is nice and experienced.However, his staff is misinforming patients in order to extract fees.It was the end of the year and I wanted to get the surgery done in order to make full use of a maxed out deductible.I called up to specifically inquire about his availability. His staff confirmed that He can do it the next day of examination.However,after the oral exam I was told that there are no dates available for surgery and it will be next year.Now they have sent me a bill.
