Dr. Mantel is arrogant and condescending. For the last three years I have been wanting to change doctors. After him yelling and talking down to me again today, I will not be going back. I have never felt comfortable with him.

I made an appointment with Dr Mantel and then read these reviews. I have been having trouble with my eyes and could not get to my regular doctor for several weeks, so I decided to give it a try….and I took my husband with me. The receptionist was very nice and polite. Dr. Mantel was very welcoming and informative. He talked to me about several options with contacts and glasses. I've been a client of Dr. Mantel for 22 years (since 1992), when I needed an "emergency visit" to replace a contact I tore in half while putting it into my eye. I had just moved from Oregon, so he became my go-to eye doc. He has been very stern with me over the years for my old, bad habits of wearing disposable lenses past one month and for falling asleep with my contacts in my eyes. I do not recommend Dr. Mantel. He was rude, impatient, condescending, and hostile. I will never go to him again. The experience was so uncomfortable, I almost walked out during the exam. He needs to retire or find a new profession. The sales person, Kathy, from LensCrafters was wonderful, though. I would recommend going there on days when Dr. Mantel is not there.

I went to Dr. Mantel's office today, Even after reading all of your reviews. I found the secretary to be very kind and helpful. Dr. Mantel was very knowledgable and had very nice manners. I will recommend my family and friends to his office.

Avoid this doctor---rude, rude, rude! I left before he could even do the exam, this is the second bad experience with him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time, but now I know, he's very unprofessional, rude, and condescending. DO NOT GO!

I agree that Dr. Mantel can come across as arrogant ... but in my experience, he has been a knowledgeable doctor to take my children to. However, his office secretary leaves a lot to be desired and I do not appreciate her "up selling" techniques which came across as "lying by omission" in my book. They clearly over charge for contact lenses and then once I realized this, would not refund my money. Instead I had to jump through multiple hoops in contacting the lens company directly to return the lenses and get my money back. ... read more

I find Jackie D's story very unlikely. I have been going there for many years and have had only good, curteous, thorough service from him and his staff.

I had a similar terrible experience with Dr. Mantel and that awful woman who works with him in the back. He was so rude, arrogant and unkind. He was trying to intimidate me and talked down to me like I was a child. I contacted Lenscrafters but he is not one of "their" doctors. Seriously, do not go there.
