Many years ago, as a child, Dr. Hartman did some dental work for me on the Lummi reservation. I was 7 or8, and after my first visit, I came out of the exam room bruised around my face where he had tried to open my mouth excessively. After that, my father sat in on all appointments. I have spent the last 40 years of my life afraid of dentists and needing medication to get through visits. Dr. Hartman took what could have been a kind, caring and educational experience and gave me nightmares instead.
