Being Dr. Hagen's patient for many yrs and he is very polite and courteous towards his patients. Whenever there was a problem with my eyes that needed special attention he would referred me to another colleague who specializes in their fields. I have never had any problems with Dr. Hagen or anyone else in the office or his colleagues and I'm glad my mother introduced me to Dr. Hagen back in 1998. I have recommended Dr. Hagen to my friends in the past. I'm glad Dr. Hagen has been my eye specialist throughout the years.
Hagen misdiagnosed me, refusing to correct it after receiving chart notes from 6 providers above his pay-scale & educational-level. He still refuses. Also, he has been charging medical insurance instead of workers comp; forcing me to pay $10,000 out of pocket before anything will be paid. He refuses to bill correctly. He wrote a letter he denied writing. When backed into a corner, his staff laughed. He fired himself; denying me treatment. He can't stop treating w/o reassignment to a w/c doc.
I am not sure if I would recommend him. He is friendly, but at this point I am shopping for a new physician. I have been seeing him for a number of years, but I have multiple concerns and was put off by his superior response of "29 years education" when I asked for a description of my status and treatment. He basically meant that I would need his education level to understand it. I asked him to put it in layman's terms for me. I forced the issue but shouldn't have to do that. I was put off.
I had lasik eye surgery with Dr. Hagen in 1999. I had excellent vision until the last year when I developed cataracts. I had difficulty getting past gatekeepers where I currently live, so I contacted Dr. Hagen's office and explained that I needed to know a definitive path for my eye health. I was examined by a technician and then Dr. Hagen. He listened attentively to me. I trust him.
