In 2021, my daughter underwent a right-sided thyroidectomy. Unfortunately, this procedure resulted in partial paralysis of her right vocal cord. According to the surgeon, Dr. Prickett, this complication occurred due to an accidental injury to the right vocal cord vein. Prior to the surgery we were informed that only the infected portion of the thyroid nodule would be removed.
