After being hit with sciatica issues in April due to a herniated bulging disc pressing the nerve and suffering with serious pain 24-7 in buttocks, thigh, calf, and ankle with tingling and numbness in toes and feet a young woman I ran into said I was fixed with the same problem at AVALA SPINE INSTITUTE and was told to go see Dr OWEN there. Surgery and initial care was extraordinary. After my surgery, I asked for some sort of PT plan to help accustomed my body to the new hardware and structural components. I was denied PT since it was not deemed necessary. Since then I have called the office several times to learn more about this verdict but have heard little response and no real justification of my PT denial.
He’s the only Doc that was able to figure out what was wrong with my husband. He listened; then asked questions , got MRIs and together came up with a plan to head off paralysis. We have total faith in him that he will do everything he can to restore some quality of life for my husband
The Extra Step. As my wife and I entered Dr Owen’s office that day, we were both frightened. We were there seeking a second opinion regarding my wife, which only increased our anxiety. Dr Owen immediately informed us that he had seen my wife’s scans, and asked her to describe her symptoms. I can’t forget to praise Paige Marler !!Dr. Owen’s PA. The first visit I had was with Paige before I even saw Dr. Owen , I was in a lot of pain and stressed and scared of the unknown she examined me talked to me , set up my MRI’s for me and as I was leaving she said “I got you girl” and those few words took my fear and stress away ! Doctor Owen is in my opinion the best !! He saved my life he is a very confident and excellent surgeon and a very humble good man! He is honest and very kind! He did neck surgery on me June /2023 I was very afarid of this surgery but his confidence and calmness is what made me calm ! He will always hold a very special place in my heart ! I saw Dr. Owen for a second opinion after the first Neurosurgeon I met with about my sciatic pain began talking about fusions and rods. Dr. Owen opened our visit with “I start with the least invasive procedure possible”. He had my attention. We made a plan an set a surgery date. Confident and gifted Neurosurgeon. Great interaction skills. I had Lumbar surgery w/ Fusion and at about two weeks out, it's been much easier than I thought it would be. There were other doctors who offered the procedure, but not with the qualities you will find with Dr. Owen. And going to AVALA was a great experience. It's most unlike any hospital and more like a nice hotel. If you need spinal surgery, or another opinion, this is your doctor to see.
Highly professional, actually spends time explaining and answering all questions, and he is kind. I didn’t know him or even of him when emergency surgery was required, I was fortunate enough to be Blessed with Dr Owens, he truly is the best in his field, unconditional trust in the man!
