Dr Joy changed my husband's prescription due to a violent outburst (not like him). No advice or recommendations were made, he could have told me to remove all guns from the home. Two days after this new prescription my husband entered the bedroom with a gun telling me all kind of crazy things, it wasn't him. He wasn't there. I have not met with Dr Joy as yet but he comes with a high recommendation from a nurse friend of mine so I am keeping the appointment. I was concerned about how some of the things were handled in his lobby though. They had the wrong patient for one of the appointments (who had apparently been sitting there a long time before recognizing the error.) At least one of their staff recognize the urgency of my referral and put me on the cancellation list. I hope to get in sooner than June.
my husband was misdiagnosed as a patient at Bartow Memorial and a neurologist from Lake Wales - After his discharge we went to see our primary and she called Dr. Joy personally and got him in - in 2 weeks - that was pretty fast really - Dr. Joy diagnosed him and has been treating him for the last 2 yrs -
He exam was trivial. He was condescending. He did not help my husband at all. He disagreed with the other physicians diagnosis. I saw him as a patient myself 30 years ago and he has not gotten any better.
I was very disappointed with my husband's experience. If Juan joy would have been more honest, and told my husband that he did not know what he was doing, my husband would not have lost 7 years. He wants to play God with other people's lives and in the end, all that causes is more pain and suffering.
The WORST AND UNPLEASANT DOCTOR visit I have in my live. I waited about 45 min to see him but he only took about 5 min to see me as a new patient. He treat me like I have a disease or something, he do not check anything of me, just asked me to do some lame exercise that doesn't have anything to do with the place of my pain. He do not have a heart for the patient only to make money. Dr is as good as any as long as your able to get an appt. Scheduling staff is rude. I've played phone tag with one scheduler and his nurse trying to set an appt. Finally a third person called me asking "what did I want?" I took the call at work because i really needed the appt. She first offered me an appt for the following week, then routed me back to the first scheduler "kat" who tried telling me she didn't have a referral (even though I have a VM from 2 day's prior saying this is "kat" I have a new referral....). I didn’t have a good experience with Dr Joy. I waited about 45 min to see him but he only took about 10 min to see me as a new pt. His receptionist was not very pleasant either and it takes along time to get a call back. This is not a practice I would go back to.
