I attempted to have Doctor Wassell perform a surgical procedure that I have had done through my insurance multiple times. He did not want to do the use the procedure my insurance company paid for. He wanted me to pay three thousand dollars out of pocket. When I explained to him my insurance had covered the procedure multiple times in the past. I was told they have a great payment plan. Has been monitoring a AAA for several years, Always attentive to my needs and answers any questions I have.
Had hernia surgery and all is well so far, 6/10/21 so I'll let you no how it turns out, but very capable Dr and to the point;
Excellent surgeon. Straight to the point!
He spent very little time with me discussing my hernia surgery. Three years later, The umbilical hernia reoccurred and I unwisely went back to him. He said he was going to put mesh in it, but he did not. When I asked him why not, he said, “Because I didn’t ”. Now my hernia has reoccurred again. Also his secretary told me that he triple books. I had to wait hours for my appointments. :(
If this surgeon was the only choice left in the world for me I would rather be practiced on by a tree surgeon. No way in Hades will I even go back for the follow up.
It frustrates me even giving him 1 star as he does not deserve it. First issue I had with him is he didn't even have the kindness to have a family member present to tell my mother that she had cancer (I live 5 mins from the hospital and was not working at the time). Secondly, he did not properly perform her port surgery needed for her chemo and she has not been able to use her arm for over a month and is in constant pain, finally almost 2 months later he decides that it needs to be removed.
Dr Wasselle is a wonderful doctor and surgeon. He is caring and thoughtful. He looks you in the eye when he speaks with you. Answered all questions and takes time and listens to concerns I had. Would highly recommend Dr Wasselle if you need a surgeon.
