Total jerk! Cold, rude. Only looked at the xrays. Cut me off, didn't let me speak. Left me feeling demoralized and violated.
A great orthopedic surgeon. He performed a acdf with no complications and I feel wonderful. A very professional doctor and also very busy! His support staff is great and fills in all the blanks to help him spend more time exercising his talents....in the surgical suite!
Very poor attitude, over books, didn't spend time with me, even his own nurse question him about what he was doing, didn't get rid of any of my pain, only fused S1 and L5, but L4 was, and still is the bigger problem, I would never send any one there, I now have to have surgery all over again, he botched the job.
Although a botched surgery like mine can happen to any patient and might not be the doctor's fault, his cocky nonchalant attitude, horrible staff, and unwillingness to even call a patient after a procedure makes him one of the worst doctors I have ever met.
I would NEVER recommend Dr. Fischgrund to anyone. Since I was not a surgical candidate he was dismissive and almost immediately lost interest in my case. When I asked him if he even knew why I was there, he looked at me, said nothing and walked out. I have never been so offended in my life!
I have wasted over five years of my life because of a procedure that I had done five years ago by this man. He claimed he could help me and sold me on a surgery that really did not help me at all. To make a long story short I went back to see him recently and he more or less told me I have to live with the pain. And that was after giving me the runaround for two months having to see his PAs and dealing with pain management that did not help either. I have found a different doctor.
Dr. F. fused my L4-5 three years ago and I've been great ever since. I'm a PT so tend to think I am a good judge of ortho quality. His office was easy to work with and he got me into surgery very quickly. He is friendly, honest and someone I would trust in the future for any other spine issue.
Dr. J Fischgrund is a world class orthopedic surgeon. He is honestly a genius. Unfortunately I have personal experience with a number physicians who are subpar. Dr. J Fischgrund and his team of doctors were able to successfully complete a surgery on my back, three different doctors attemped and failed. I was opiod dependant and a mess when I met Dr. J Fischgrund. I am no longer opiod dependant my back is in better shape than I could ever have hoped. Thank you so much Dr. Fischgrund.
I had ACDF of C5/C6. I went to a few other doctors before Dr Fischgrund with mixed recommendations. I am thankful I went with this doctor and his team. I doubt you will find a better group of doctors in the area with this level of experience, and with such an organized and professional staff. The recovery at Beamount (Royal Oak) was a great experience...even the food was good. I can feel my hands again, pain is almost gone and nerves have settled down! Bring your questions to your appointment!
