Dr. Van Horne did a total knee replacement for me 9 weeks ago, and I couldn't be more pleased. He and his staff are friendly and professional and always make you feel comfortable . You have to work before and after surgery so that you have the best possible outcome, but it is well worth it. You won't get the flexibility and strength back in your knee if you don't do the exercises. Also, having a good joint coach makes all the difference in the world for your success.
Dr. Van Horne has done two knee replacements for me. Both have gone well but the second done in January 2019 was so much better than the first. With the latest there was a lot less pain and I was able to do my exercises right after surgery which truly helped with my recovery. I am able to go about daily routines with no knee pain whatsoever. Dr. Van Horne and all of his staff are a delight to work with and very supportive. I always recommend them for any body needing a new knee.
Dr. Van Horn and his staff are a well oiled machine!!! Just completed having both hips replaced. I"m back to perfect again!!! I did just what his staff said to do post surgery and it went great. I"d suggest cranking up the walking gradually during rehab. by week 5, I added a 3 mile walk with a 200 ft. elevation change. initially just make it... Then pick up the pace each day. Finish strong and so will your hips. Larry Jansen, Grants Pass, 62 yrs old
I was the "Coach" for my wife who had knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. Van Horne in January 2019. My primary function was dispensing the post-op medications. Dr. Van Horne has a very detailed and complicated "after surgery medication calendar". This includes antibiotics, blood thinners, stomach protectors, non-narcotic pain medications, anti-nausea/anti itch medications, narcotic pain meds, and meds for constipation. Depending on the medication they are prescribed to be taken before or after meals, with breakfas... read more
I had a unique experience of having three joints replaced in a period of eight months. As an orthopedic physical therapist, it was very important to me to find a surgeon who controlled all the pre op and post op variables to minimize my risk of complications. I found Dr. Van Horne paid attention to the smallest of details from start to finish to help guarantee my surgeries would be successful. He prepares patients and family with all the information they need by having them go through PT before surgery so they know exactl... read more
From start to finish I was well looked after. From pre-op requirements, including physical therapy and prescription trials, to my last post-op visit when Dr. Van Horne said he would call in two years and see me in four for follow-up. I was in the top 95% for success and recovery because I followed his outline by dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's. Had I been younger, I have no doubt I would have been in the top 100%. Do what he says, and you too will have the outstanding results I have experienced. I had my r... read more
I am 77 yrs old. It has been 3 months since my second knee was replaced. I have followed Dr Van Horne's instructions, almost to the letter. I am walking without a cane, first time in years. I have been able to start hiking again. Do what he says, and you will be back on your feet again. This is the guy and his team to see! It's hard work, but it's worth it.
I had a total knee replacement and have done really well. I got out of surgery at 4:00 PM and I was on my way home at 7:00 PM the same day. I was off the walker in less then a week, off the cane pretty soon after that. I was walking a mile a day in about a month. The 3rd day when the nerve block wore off was a killer, but other then that I can't complain. Get in good shape before surgery as Dr Van Horne outlines in the pre surgery guide. It will help you a lot. I will be going to Dr Van Horne when the second knee is ready fo... read more
It is important to note that Dr. Van Horne did my second knee replacement. My first knee replacement was done in 2003 and I had to have a revision in 2007. My recuperation from those two surgeries was very difficult. Dr. Van Horne has laid out a very detailed program for his patients. I decided to follow his program in hopes of making my recuperation better than the previous two surgeries I had. The difference between my two knee replacements has been incredible and I owe it to Dr. Van Horne's program and to my joint ... read more
