Our 75-yr-old dad had shortness of breath for two months and it was getting worse quickly. At our first cardiology appointment, a leaky valve was detected and surgery recommended within two weeks. Dr. James Slater was the one recommended to fix it. Dr. Slater performed a successful open heart surgery by repairing both the mitral and tricuspid valves. We are extremely grateful of Dr. Slater's skills. Our dad is alive and well because of Dr. Slater, Dr. Krell, and their team. Praise the Lord!
Dr Salter and his team at the Heart Success unit of Morristown Hospital are outstanding, caring healthcare professionals that saved and gave me my life back. When I arrived at the hospital it was discovered that my heart was 80% dead and I could not be bi-passed or stented. Dr Slater and the Heart Success team implanted a LVAD, a left ventricular assist devices. I was in Morristown hospital and each day there and everyday since that have taken great care of me and I am forever thankful!
12 years ago on Memorial Day weekend, I was admitted to Morristown Memorial with 96% (!) blockage of my coronary arteries. Dr. Slater performed a quadruple coronary bypass on me that Tuesday.I died during the procedure (I was flatlined for a full 5 minutes), but he was able to bring me back. After my recovery I took responsibility for my health by losing weight, and eating right. It's been a great life so far, and it's all due to his skills as a surgeon. I'll always be grateful for that.
