My husband was medevac to Morristown for an emergent aortic dissection. Dr slayer explained the surgery to me prior wheeling him into the OR and sat with my family after surgery explaining how things went. My husband survived the surgery and is now home recovering each day getting stronger. No pain from surgery. Dr Slater is our “rockstar”. Dr Slater is approachable, calm and well spoken when explaining step by step what’s happening to the patient and their concerned family. We felt very good in his care.

Dr. Slater saved my life. I was rushed to the hospital on a Sunday morning and Dr. Slater responded immediately to the emergency. He is obviously an excellent cardiac surgeon, very caring and very patient. I went for a one year follow up visit with him and once again he took his time to explain my condition, what had been done and then answered all my questions. He is top rate in my book!!!
Dr. Slater is a highly skilled, first rate cardiac surgeon who performed a triple bypass and aortic valve replacement on my husband and saved his life. We have the utmost trust in Dr. Slater and would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends. His education and training are world class and he is a truly compassionate, caring physician.
Dr. Slater has operated on my father. He implanted his LVAD 4 years ago, and recently replaced a portion of the device. Dr. Slater spends time explaining procedures to patient and family. I was not present when he spoke to my father about his surgery, but Dr. Slater took the time to speak to me the following morning prior to the surgery start. He is a skilled compassionate surgeon; and a very humble about his abilities.
After the surgery with Dr. Slater my recovery is so smooth that I don't feel any discomfort. No pain, no sufferring, in my third week I can do anything as usual and my regular doctor let me drive on the fourth week. I started light exercise in the fifth week and rehars are following.
Dr. Slater is a true professional. He took a great deal of time explaining the procedure, he answered all my questions in detail and never seemed to be in a hurry. I believe a true professional is a person who tells you what they going to do and does it. I would go out of my way to recommend him. By the way Dr. Slater implanted my LVAD and I am doing great.
