In general, Dr. Nnamani is a good doctor. However, after seeing her for several years for medication management for anxiety I had some triggering events in my personal life that left me feeling overwhelmed with anxiety and dread. She said that no medication would help or change my way of thinking and that this was essentially a me problem. That left me feeling pretty helpless.
I was upset and real down after my last session, for a whole week She had her own agenda and really did not care about what was bothering me. I did not think a psychiatrist was supposed to have that affect on you. My experience with psychiatrists in the past had been much more pleasant. I am new in the area and don't think I have a choice. My doctor in NY said she looked good. Maybe on paper only. Hard to understand, and even wore a mask during her telehealth sessions, which made it even harder.
Went to one appointment with her. I was struggling to figure out how to answer some of the questions she asked as a part of her assessment. She accused me of being uncooperative and proceeded to bully and degrade me through the appointment. I walked out before the appointment was finished and found another doctor who was supportive and helpful.
Saw her for depression. Increased my Wellbutrin to the max (double what I had taken for years) and I blacked out. Told her about the incident - she didn't change the meds. During the same visit she told me that she was too busy to see me as a therapist, could only prescribe meds. Had a couple of absence seizures, of which I informed my primary care MD. She said to drop all Wellbutrin. Did so and have had no issues - aside from the depression for which I initially contacted Dr. Nnamani.
Dr. Nnamani was really great with my daughter. She is a young adult and has suffered from anxiety for years. After an hour of thoughtful questions and interactions, Dr. Nnamani was able to pinpoint what my daughter needed to do. She is very intelligent, as well as caring! My daughter has already improved tremendously and we will be going back and heading her advice!
