Twenty-five years ago I suffered an acute case of diverticulitis, peritonitis, ruptured appendix and burst colon; rushed to Alexian Bros ER where my condition was miss-diagnosed. Dr. Walsh responded immediately, performed laparotomy, excised 1 foot of colon, cleaned me up, installed colon ostomy and monitored my recovery for 6 months; performed a laparotomy, reconnected my colon, and sewed me up. I'm still here today, healthy, no problems at all. Thank you Dr. Walsh! I call him St. Hugh.
13 years ago he happened to be the surgeon on call when I needed an appy. Wow, did I luck out to get him. This time when it was a planned surgery I did not think twice about returning to him to remove my gallbladder. He is an expert in the OR, very well respected by his colleagues, patients & nurses. I feel so fortunate to be in his care. His office staff-one leaves a lot to be desired (the younger one) but the lady who has been with him forever goes above and beyond to help out where she can.
I've been a patient for over 35 years. Needless to say I trust him as a Doctor, I also admire him as a person.
