Dr. Awender was the surgeon on call in February 2017 when my son Mark with Autism Spectrum Disorder, needed an emergency surgical procedure. He has been there for him since. There is not an adult surgeon I have ever encountered in 50 years of nursing, that has gone over and above to try to help and heal a young non-verbal man with special needs . I made an appointment with Dr. Awender to remove a hemorrhoid and have a colonoscopy and I had been advised that he would do both in one setting. He described my issue as a skin flap rather than a hemorrhoid and after having the procedure in the recovery room he said it only did the colonoscopy and did nothing about the skin flap because it would have required a couple of stitches and would have been painful. Dr. Awender has treated me for a severe and infected dog bite and abdominal hernia surgery. His bedside manner is excellent and communicates clearly and effectively. And most importantly my results with him has exceeded my expectations! And Mary, in the office is also fantastic!
