He’s a GREAT doctor, been going over 20 years, that’s why I stay even though my appointments are constantly rescheduled and canceled. I think he just overloads on patients and doesn’t have enough time for all of them. The office front desk are really nice to, I just don’t like the constant cancellation of appointments
I haven't seen Dr. Mattingly for 8 months. Now my scheduled appointment has been pushed back 3 more months! Again the reason why is he won't be in the office. Often appointments are cancelled and rescheduled. I need to see my doctor on a regular basis, not once a year. If I call and he's not in the office, I have to deal with my illness without him, because the staff can't help me. This happens on a regular basis. He's been a good doctor to me when he sees me. Problem is, he doesn't have the time to see me.
I was a patient for 5 years, during which my mental health went from so-so to a steaming heap of garbage. I always communicated my symptoms and was compliant with treatments but things only worsened. Looking back, it was clear he never listened to me and was treating a version of me that existed only in him mind. He needed to be right and to understand patients better than they do themselves, allowing him to be a savior and source of comfort. To him I was "high-functioning" and not like other bipolar patients. He prescribed ... read more
Not impressed with my experience with Dr. Mattingly the last few years. I meet with him (or at least try to) at least once a year, but each and EVERY time I schedule an appointment 2-3 months ahead of time, a WEEK before the appointment, it gets canceled. When I speak with someone to reschedule, I have to wait ANOTHER 2-3 months. To top it off, the wait time is sometimes about an hour after my scheduled time and when he finally meets with me, the appointment takes 5 minutes and he spends 4 of those minutes just writing his n... read more
I feel he is a decent doctor but he is very hard to get in touch with. He’s the only one who can help (tried in past to talk to other doctor in the office - no go) but doesn’t offer an exchange number or any kind of messaging system to get in touch with him. So if he’s out of the office, you’re out of luck. The office staff isn’t the greatest either. I sat on hold (2nd caller) for 20 minutes, then 1st caller for 30 minutes and finally gave up. And it’s not even their lunch hour yet. They might have been closed but the messag... read more
My family member has received nothing but excellent care here. They have been a patient for decades. This Dr encouraged them to return to work ,increase their education and reach their full potential. He is probably the only reason my family member has made a full recovery and will continue to thrive. He is compassionate and possesses the keen ability to motivate his patients to recovery. Thank You ,Dr Mattingly.
Business response:
Thank you! Dr. Mattingly routinely talks about "no matter what you're doing, make sure you are progressing. Everyday." Stagnant thoughts result in stagnant behavior. Good for your family member!
Spent 15 minutes seeing both of my children and pushed meds down their throat. Nothing but a pill pushing numbers guy. In no way does this man care about his patients.
I have been seeing Dr. Mattingly for some time (7 years). It has been increasing difficult to see him. Medicine is a business. His research is very important, and if he wants to do research, teach and do clinical trials, wonderful. Personally, he's a nice guy and when you can get his attention a good doc. But I think his practice now is only there to feed his research, and not for long term patients.
Business response:
Sorry to hear depresseddad. Unfortunately, Dr. Mattingly is pulled from the clinic to do speaking engagements or educational seminars. There are some days he will do a talk or teach at Washington University, come to the office to see 3-5 patients, then leave to catch a flight for a speaking engagement. Due to his busy schedule, he DOES try his best to keep his clinic hours open.
Recently, the appointments become less frequent due to cancellations and the office visit itself is less than 10 minutes. This is unacceptable and I am in the process of changing. I don't come in to just chat, I am sick. A year ago, I would have recommended everyone, today, no one at all.
