Doctor Abraham is a brusque, gruff and sarcastic man. He's also a genius. If you need a pushover who will let you dish about all the awful things mommy and daddy did to you, go see someone else. If you want to get better, go see Doctor Abraham. He advocates Gestalt therapy in the tradition of Fritz Perls. The man knows people. Yes he is rude, and a germaphobe, He admits to "hating people." He doesn't believe in talk therapy, and doesn't like that I see a counselor. He has also billed my insurance for 2 visits I didn't go to.I have called BC/BS to let them know. On the other hand, he is brilliant with meds. He has had me stable for 6 years. He's not afraid to prescribe the meds I need, unlike other Psyc's. It's a love hate relationship with him. He hates fat people, and says he judges people by their shoes! lol
Yes he is a germaphobe, and my first visit he was jaundiced yellow, so perhaps he has a reason for not shaking hands. Yes he was abrupt. I had just been dxed with fibro and had specific drugs I wanted him to RX, which he did. 5 months later I suddenly came out of my fatigue and depression, caused by exhausion fibro sleep disorder, which he had prescribed the special fibro sleeping anti-depressant like I initially asked for. The first reviewer nailed it. Dr. Abraham was angry from the moment I walked in. He refused to shake my hand because he was afraid of germs. He spoke with me for about 10 minutes, didn't listen to what I said and then told me he "knew my type of person." He said there was nothing he could do for me because I didn't need meds and he doesn't believe in therapy and whining about your mother. He's about 110 years old and clearly 30 years past retirement. He has no staff and has problems returning phone calls.
He's obnoxious, anorexic, OCD riddled and a germaphobe. Other than he I guess he is ok.
First of all, this doctor came into the waiting room, where other patients were also waiting, and began asking me questions about any drug allergies I have. (Confidentiality, anyone?) The walls in his office (an apt. bldg. converted to office space) were so thin, I could hear every single word said by the patient ahead of me, though I tried to read a magazine and ignore this. When I first saw him I asked him why he had been in so many towns in FL. He said he just moved around alot. Come to find out that he is a crook! I had gotten a statement from BC/BS showing he got his money for an appointment I never had. I mentioned this to him and he said, "Just tear it up, I'll have my bookkeeping service send it back". That never happened! I did not tear it up and I phoned BC/BS and told them what happened and I was told they had a whole list of bad marks against him. he was rude over the phone, when i got to his office I extended my hand and he refused to shake saying many bacterias are all around and then, prescribed lot of xanax, without trying to use the cognitive approach, very impolite and did not like when I ask question. I would not recommended even to my worst enemy
