Contracted price isn't what you'll pay. There are extra charges added often. I was warned ahead of time by two friends, but chose to go anyway. Treatment was successful, but at a higher cost than agreed upon. My daughter followed all her recommendations, but there were several times items were added to my bill. At consultation, I was assured that extras would be due to poor hygiene or not following recommendations which wasn't the case.
Our daughter is in the process of having braces. She's still in phase I of the treatment. So far our experience with Dr. Maruko has been disastrous. From the beginning there was lack of communication from the orthodontist. After the first visit that is usually overwhelming and packed with informations (most of it provided by the assistant), you are left on your own to figure out the next step. Absolutely amazing orthodontist. Everytime I go there they always greet me by my name & say hi. Very friendly & caring. I'm always excited for an appointment at Maruko. My teeth look great & I love them. I definatley recommend this place to patients looking for an ortho. This is the place to be!!
The office of Dr. Maruko is kinda old and run down. She isn't very friendly and seems very uptight. I don't know why I even begin treatment with her. Over the last few months I have been in treatment, I haven't seen any results and the spot that my teeth have been removed is just a huge gap. She is so rude with her patients and staff. Dr. Maruko is extremely professional and a perfectionist. She is on top of her game and runs a great office. She follows up on patients and makes sure they are playing by the rules to assure their success! I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
At the end of my daughter's last appointment (December 2006) to have her retainer adjusted, my daughter made a follow-up appointment for April 2007. However, at that time, Dr. Maruko neglected to inform my daughter that her retention period would expire on 11 Feb 07. (If my daughter had been informed, she would have rescheduled her appointment for early Feb 07). In April 2007, Dr. Maruko cancelled the appointment due to illness. Dr. Maruko is a very caring person and takes pride in her business. She holds herself and staff to the highest standards and cares truly about each and every patient. My son started three years ago with an expander, as his mouth was too small for all of his teeth. Instead of pulling teeth like some would do, her goal is to have her patients keep all of their teeth, as they will need them as they grow. Office staff is often changing. Hard to get convenient appointments.
Dr. Maruko and her staff are wonderful. My daughter's treatment is not completed yet, but so far it has been very pleasant!
