I was treated when they were GBMC Fertility center back in 2005. Dr. Katz treated me like a grown up, was willing to listen to our concerns and was personable. I was previously treated at Shady Grove (who now they are with) and my experience at Shady Grove Columbia was a disaster. My twins I had with GBMC are now three and I was glad I went with him. I don't know if they have changed since they were taken over by Shady Grove. I hope not.
We had a fantastic experience at GBMC. The office staf was friendly and kept us well informed. Dr. Katz is ver knowledgeable. At times he did seem "quiet" or "distant." However, this is also a very challenging branch/area of medicine. It is an area of medicine where every patient is relying on the doctors there to help them get that miracle. Dr. Katz lacked in his bedside manner with me. Before my embryo transfer he said it would take a miracle and then joked with a nurse. I will never forget him and never recommend him.
I did feel that he was very insensitive. During each of our visits with him he was not comforting at all. We are not continuing with his practice because of him.
I agree with other posters that Dr. Katz is charming, confident, and knowledgable but I do feel that sometimes he's "phoning it in." When he's called me w/results or done a procedure or test, several times I've felt that he doesn't even remember who I am, let alone what my plan of treatment is. I know they have a lot of patients, but I expect hime to at least have my chart handy when he calls - I've had to correct or remind him of things several times. I saw him two years ago at GBMC. Really nice, personable, treated you like an adult.
Dr Katz's is wonderful.. Got directly to the point. He schedules "talk times" to give you your results in person. Very kind, considerate, knowledgable... Overall I wish every doctor was like him.
Excellent doctor, very charming and confident. You trust him instantly and I found him to be very candid.
