Erik is an apathetic, egotistical business owner; he left all clinical skills, nuance, empathy, and case coordination in med school. He can't keep clients NOR STAFF because they feel minimized and controlled under his outdated, dogmatic ways of approaching mental health. It's embarrassing. Dr. Cantrell has been great. As a patient I value his open communication. He listens intently and has a nondismissive behavior which I greatly appreciate. I am happy to have him as my doctor.
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with this clinic — under the leadership of Dr. Eric Cantrell — was not just disappointing, it was deeply damaging. I’m an ER nurse. I deal with mental health emergencies every single day — panic attacks, suicide attempts, psychosis, and trauma. I know what compassionate, evidence-based care looks like. Dr. Cantrell is the best of the best. He has a unique personality and is, I believe, misunderstood sometimes. He has seen four adult members of my family, me included (ADHD/OCD/GAD) and my brother (schizophrenic) and has been 100% effective in diagnosing and treating lifelong challenges at a superior level that no other doctors or psychiatrists ever quite accomplished. He has employed wonderful nurse prescribers in his office, but he is unwilling to hear problems from his patients. He met with me under false pretenses pretending to be covering for one of his nurses but instead breezed through an appointment only to drop me from service if I didn't grovel with him. I had gotten into a heated exchange with one of the receptionists at the office who kept me at my pharmacy for hours on multiple occasions.
