Had two meniscus repairs done by Dr. Mitchell within 13 months and after having complications after the 2nd one, he recommended a 3rd procedure to clean up "more meniscus tears". Seriously. My knee has never been the same. I would not trust the health of my knee to Dr. Mitchell. Like other reviews, I concur. "Avoid At All Cost".
Avoid at all costs! Went in for a minor meniscus tear that should have been a breeze to clean up, and he decided I didn't need any of my meniscus at all. It has been 11 years now and I am bone on bone and have never fully recovered. There was no reason to take out my entire meniscus and my knee is a mess. Now I need a full knee replacement at 50 years old.
This doctor used my mother's insurance to try and fix her miniscus when she's clearly needed a full knee replacement. She was bone on bone and was lied to. A highly reputable ortho did her knee replacement after this botched surgery (6 mo later) by Dr Mitchell. He said he never would have recommended a meniscus repair based on her MRI. Avoid this doctor. My mother was 72 at athe time and he treated her like she was disposable.
He was prompt, professional, listened to my questions/concerns, answered all of my questions and made sure I understood everything he was explaining to me. He understood my condition, explained what was wrong with me and formulated a plan to correct my condition. Pre and post surgery appointments with Dr. Mitchell, took as much time with me as I needed. I never felt rushed or that he was in a hurry. Post-surgery physical therapy rehabilitation, I was above average for people in my age (61).
Dr. Mitchell is one of the best in the country! He is thorough and knowledgable.
