When I was a patient of Dr. Songer's, he was rarely on time and when I mentioned to the staff that I was waiting for an extended amount of time before I was seen, they laughed and acted like I was lying. After I left his care, I tried getting my medical records at the beginning of the year. I was told they would check with the doctor and call me back. Well I never heard back. He seems very particular about who he accepts as a patient; you only can schedule an appointment with him after sending in an exhaustive intake form, after he reviews said form and decides whether to take you on as a patient. He takes only about 20-30 minutes for a new patient visit and 10 minutes for a follow-up visit. I got the feeling he was asking me to come back unnecessarily frequently despite my not needing any medication changes. Will not accept patients who really need a psychiatrist. Our daughter filled out several exhausting pages of personal health information (turns out this is like a job application), only to be told he wouldn't accept her as a patient. When probed, the receptionist admitted it was because our daughter had been hospitalized for psychiatric reasons (anorexia) as a child. They should just advertise this up front--"we won't take patients with a psychiatric hospital record"--before wasting our time

Dr. Songer is great! He listens and really cares about the people he treats. He makes suggestions, but also lets patients have a huge say in the course of their treatment.
