After my GP told me I had high calcium, he referred me to an ENT surgeon. After researching it, I self-referred to the Norman Parathyroid Center because I was concerned about having an inexperienced surgeon to do the surgery. Had parathryroidectomy 2011 at NPC. Highest quality care and staff was awesome. Had 1 bad glad with large tumor removed and things had been fine until this past year. I've recently had follow-up to see if i have another bad gland. They did all the tests and were very honest that there might be one, but suggested I wait for surgery as bad gland is tiny and hardly able to see so once in there, might not be found. My calcium is borderline but, my PTH is 384. I have had 3 and 4G cat scan and I have 4 adenomaso on my PTH. My endocrinologist has sent me to two Endo Surgeons but nothing has been done. I am just so frustrated and do not know what to do.
I would never have gotten help without you. It took many years to convince my doctor to test it the right way.
Just had my procedure yesterday. From the moment I spoke to the receptionist until I left everyone was smiling and thoughful. As an RN that tells me that not only are the patients well cared for but the staff are too. That trickles down to the overall care and culture of the environment. I'm so impressed! I came from Canada and had the surgery Dec 15, 2016 ...it was a great decision, in spite of the cost incurred personally. My health has improved exponentially over the year. In fact, by June when I had my bone density scan done, I had regained bone mass....if I had waited in Ontario it is doubtful that I would have even had the surgery by that date....
