I have been impressed with Dr. Calonje's efficiency in his office. By the time you see the doctor you have had all of your testing and visual exams for him to see. He takes his time in making sure all your questions are answered. His surgical skills are well honed doing more retinal surgery than anyone else in Tucson. He is also a humanitarian with his surgical clinics in Latin America.
Dr. Colonje is an outstanding 5- star doctor in every way. He was knowledgeable, kind, concerned, honest, professional and extremely effective. I would recommend him to anyone in need of medical help and service.
I am being treated for macular degeneration. Dr Calonje gives concise and understandable answers to questions. His staff is well organized and very efficient.
He is very arrogant and has no respect for his patients concerns.
I had to cancel my appointment with Dr. Calonje because of major health issues that popped up. I don't know which receptionist she was, but when I tried to postpone my appt. and reschedule with my wheezing voice, , she rudely snapped at me, "Call back when you're better," and hung up before I could respond. I won't go back.
Highly recommend!!! Not all the Drs with suit and tie are what you expect but Dr Calonje is one of the exceptions. I was doing an eye exam due to my 35 years with type 1 diabetes and he explained very clear about my eyes condition (they’re fine by the way). Very kind staff at northwest Magee in Tucson.
Horrible Rushed, arrogant, and while may be competent, he scared me.
Dr. Calonje ruined my father's eye. My father came in for emergency retinal displacement. Dr. Calonje did not give enough anesthesia and my father started convulsing on the operating table. His blood pressure went through the roof. Post surgery, Dr. Calonje blamed it on my father having a heart condition. The most terrifying experience of my life occurred here, under Dr. Diego's care. I had my cornea replaced in April of 2019. It got infected and I was referred to Dr. Diego, who recommended emergency surgery for the following day. I arrived around noon. I was told this would be a brief surgery and should take about twenty minutes with the intention of cleaning the infection out.
