I went to several doctors in OC beginning in my late 20's when I started experiencing a racing heart and palpitations on a regular basis, to the point of being debilitating. Invariably, the doctors told me to "relax" and one even told me all I needed was "a nice romantic vacation" with my husband (wink wink). Dr. Cannom was unable and/or unwilling to help me. Fortunately, I found far better and more engaged electrophysiologists in Los Angeles.
Extremely disappointing. I was a patient of Dr. Cannom's for 10 years, and for 9 of those years had a pacemaker. I was also diagnosed with POTS, but not until many years later. Unfortunately he is not seeing POTS patients anymore (which I understand he had too many patients, little resources, etc.). That part doesn't upset me. What upsets me is that he won't see me as a patient anymore, even to monitor my pacemaker which is what I had been seeing him for for over 6 years before my POTS diagnosis! Dr. Cannom has cared for several family members. His wisdom in both cardiology and care of and for his patients is unequaled in my experience. Heart problems having life and death potential cause physical and emotional distress to patients and David Cannom's vast experience and, yet, human touch make him a medical hero.
Dr. Cannom is amazing. Very thoughtful and spend plenty of time with bis patients.
