This is my honest & complete experience with David Atkins. I think the 5 star reviews are fake. If you're looking for a psychiatrist seriously look elsewhere. I ignored the bad reviews and it was a huge mistake. He gave me meds for bipolar without telling me they were for bipolar when I went for anxiety and other issues. I felt like he purposefully didn't fully explain what the meds were for so I would take them, but I initially trusted him. I have been working with Dr. Atkins for a while now and he's honestly amazing. Not sure what is going on with those who have had bad reviews but I've had only fantastic care from him and I have worked with many doctors before that have been horrible. He has really gone out of his way to work with me under different circumstances and has been so thoughtful and empathetic with me regarding my circumstances as a person of color. I highly recommend him! Agree with the other reviewer- he changed my life too! :)
I called Dr. Atkins just to make a consultation appointment, hoping to get evaluated/tested for ADD. In the 9 minutes I spoke to him, Dr. Atkins did not refer me to any testing, he didn’t care about anything I had to say, and he frankly just didn’t treat me like an individual at all. Within minutes of just giving him my name and some light background information about having some attention issues, anxiety, and poor parental role models, he wanted to treat me for bipolar.
