The doctor is nice enough but he is very focused on placing a spinal stimulator in you. The Boston Scientific rep actually works in the office. I saw her popping in from room to room as I was going to mine. I did the initial treatment as suggested with success. (Shot at another Dr) He says I absolutely need back surgery then a spinal stimulator. I’ve told him on every visit that I don’t want one. He basically said come back when you aren’t poor or get better insurance. Once I declined the SS he was done with me. Beware
I have used Dr. Metzger for over 25 years. I have had several surgeries and have done well with all. I would recommend Dr. Metzger to anyone needing the Best Orthopedic Spine Surgeon!!
would not recommend this Dr i went to see him with hurniated and bulging disk in neck , he left the room door open for everyone to hear us talk , then told me i was out of luck , i;m been polite compaired to how he told me This Dr is very rude to patients

If you are looking for someone to do your back surgery, I would look for someone else. This Doctors staff is rude, obnoxious and unprofessional. My wife had post surgery problems with severe pain, made numerous phone calls and left messages....don't expect a return call. If you are expecting a call from this Dr. You are sadly mistaken. This dr. "Is only concerned about himself, not you". Would never use this dr. Again!
i was released from the surgical center with severe pain. i should have been admitted to a hospital so pain could have been managed.
There are only 2 spine surgeons I trust in the FL Panhandle & that's Dr.s Metzger & Giovinini. (Partners) They don't sugar coat anything, they just get the problem fixed with the best possible out comes. That's what is important here.
I have waited 45 minutes to over an hour at every appointment & his office has a habit of cancelling at last minute. He talks over you doesn't listen & is arrogant. He loves to tell you how great he is, but when things go differently during and after surgery he doesn't really give a straight answer why. You're lucky to get 5 minutes of his time and he is out the door. Also he works with Boston Scientific and these people are bad, no follow-up don't care if the stimulator is working or not.
At 26/27 years of age hurt my lower back as a lineman - fusion L4/L5/S1 at the age of 27 in 2001 later L2&L3 DDD & spinal stenosis- I took pain pills, and pushed on to provide for my family- I was pulling a MH lid and hurt something at T-10 level- after 2 epidural's, facet ablation- all temp relief at best- had trial- then refereed to Dr. Metzger had permanent implant Feb 15th 2018 - two weeks out I could not believe how I felt. GAME CHANGER - I am so thankful for Dr. Metzger
