I was fortunate to have Dr. Taleghani perform thoracic surgery on me after a severe SCI. I was rolled and slammed to the ground underwater by the ocean surf, while at Big Beach in Maui. I nearly drowned. The incredible force of the water was like a cement truck emptying it’s contents on me! It shattered several vertebrae in my thoracic spine and fractured my cervical vertebrae and several ribs. I had paralysis in my right leg and was completely immobilized with pain. Perhaps it was because my back isn’t bad enough to need surgery that Dr. Taleghani seemed completely uninterested in helping me. His attitude was blasé, he clearly hadn’t reviewed my mri beforehand, and he told me to just come back when my pain was so bad that I’d want my nerves ablated. I was seeking advice to best manage my back going forward so that I won’t need surgery in the future. He had none to provide, and then sent me a bill 7 months later.
I just wanted to acknowledge and thank Dr. Christopher Taleghani for helping me feel better after a Decompressive Laminectomy surgery on November 2020. Dr. Taleghani on Maui is the best. I need surgery for a ruptured disc that was pinching nerves. My surgery went well and healing is going well too. My aftercare instructions were detailed and easy to follow. I was in excruciating pain for months and he took that away. I’m at 3 weeks now and feeling good. After abusing my back for 60+ years it finally got to the point where I could no longer stand or walk with out pain. We have ties in NYC where my wife was a physician and I considered going back there for surgery. However after meeting with Dr Taleghani, having an X-ray, MRI and some other tests I decided to have my surgery here on Maui. Dr Taleghani is very well trained and was involved with the development of the minimally invasive techniques that allow for a much faster recovery. If you're considering going to Oahu (or the mainland) for surgery, I urge you to see Dr. Taleghani first. Before Dr. Taleghani arrived on island, I had to go to Oahu for surgery and it is incredibly stressful... not to mention the added difficulty in getting follow up care. Dr. Taleghani is superb and he's right here on Maui! I appreciate his knowledge and experience greatly, but I cannot stress the importance of his communication and feedback.
