Excellent psychiatrist . Compassionate , professional and knowledgeable .
5+ years ago my insurance changed and I had to find a new psychiatrist. I started calling from the new plan's list of in-network providers accepting new patients, and was told each time "we have enough of your kind of patient", leaving me feeling an outcast, unworthy & below their standard of professional psychiatry care. Crushed, I called the v er last name on the list, Dr. Bowen Parsons, & with a kind, caring voice said yes, he accepts "my kind of patient" & helping patients get well!
Dr. Parsons is by far the best psyciatrist I have seen . He is empathetic and is a good listener . He is very knowledage about medications .
After years of seeing him, I found him cold and lacking in therapy skills. He sat expressionless when i cried, focused on advice giving. He was not much for improving coping skills or getting to the root of my problem. Therapy was what he would do in my situation and he didn’t care why I felt the way I did. He would explain how I should feel or think to be better. If a subject was uncomfortable for him he would just change topics. He was someone to talk to but I have friends for that.
I've found Dr. Parsons easy to talk with, and highly knowledgeable on the topic of pharmacology.
Dr. Parsons is by far the best psychiatrist I've ever had. He worked with me closely to get my meds balanced and got me through a challenging time. Beyond that, he's very friendly and makes our appointments feel more like a conversation than a psychiatric evaluation. I've left Portland now, and it'll be hard to find a psychiatrist quite like him.
Lovely physician, every appointment feels like I am just visiting friend. He is very kind, thorough, and really listens to his patient's needs without being judgmental.
I cannot imagine what my life would be like without Dr. Parsons' help. He is a master in his field of psychiatry, and he also cares very deeply about the health, well being, and happiness of his patients. There is no finer psychiatrist to be found.
