Super nice guy and I really like him. Unfortunately when I went to see him for snoring he ruled out sleep apnea without a study and I got a septoplasty. I did have a deviated septum, but the septoplasty did nothing for that. Later a sleep clinic would test me for apnea and I was found to have mild to moderate apnea. Maybe I could have avoided a painful surgery if I had first had a home test for apnea. Dr. Alavi has taken care of both my parents for years, and I truly cannot say enough about his kindness, his integrity, and his medical judgment. As an ear, nose, and throat specialist, he always treated my mother with patience and never pushed her toward unnecessary surgery especially knowing her heart issues. He managed her condition with real care and attention for many years. He is also the one who discovered my father’s lymphoma. Scarred for life. After almost 4 years, no change. Now, Dr Alavi is a nice young fella. I got the Balloon Sinuplasty done, performed by the good doctor. When my nose stopped bleeding a month later, sort of a pre-mucus fluid was pouring down my throat, constantly. Not a Drip... NO.. This mucus fluid was flowing freely. It wouldn't let up, and still today. I suspect that I know how it all went wrong, but I can't prove it. Thank God for the Saline solution nasal rinse though.
