Surprising – I have never been to a bar that has been as accomodating as The Dove. There were 8 girls in our party nor had we reserved a table. Even though the place was fairly crowded when we arrived the hostess (potentially owner?) continually made sure we were sitting somewhere and comfortable. The place also had charm and was very laid back. Service was great. It was an all around great time!
Mellow, Classy, Upscale yet Unpretentious – The Dove is the best bar I've been to in a long time! As a single guy, it's nice to be able to actually carry on a conversation with women- there's no loud music, no sports on TV, and no meatheads to bump into. Just a classy place, nice decor, mellow music, great service, and relatively inexpensive. Also would be a great "first date" place- very romantic lighting and she'll be very impressed that you know of such a cool place :)
oasis in the desert – Pretend you are in the west village and have had enough of the overridden, college laden, beer soaked floor, beatass radio music bars which are ever so commonplace. There is a safe haven for you in the chess district on Thompson St. The owners have intelligent and ecclectic tastes in music while presenting their establishment with charm and an honest smile. The drinks are excellent, the service is better, and the ambiance is top notch. We always end up at the Dove. Bravo.
The Dove Rocks – The Dove has become mine and my friends favorite place to meet. Before we go out, after we leave a party or to bring a group of folks together for an all day affair. The feel of the place is comfortable, the bartenders are as friendly as they come and they have a great selection of beers and wine. We have to TRY to go to other bars but we always end up going to The Dove anyway. Check it out, but I warn you that you may become addicted.
i love the dove – this has quickly become my favorite place to get a drink or two before dinner. the specialty drinks are tasty and unique, and while the little snack things in the cute tea cup don't really go very well with the drinks, i love em anyway because those too are really tasty. the atmosphere here is great - it feels like you're in someone's victorian living room - and the service is fantastic and supre-friendly.
Fantastic – Really a lovely place for a group or a couple- good energy and ambiance, incredibly comfortable seating. Prices are what you'd expect for what you're getting: quality. You feel good going though- the waitress/owner is a really sweet girl and a hard-worker. Great find.
Great Place – This place has not been open all that long, but they have done a really great job. Great place to chill and have a couple of drinks! Nice atmosphere!! A must stop in the village!
