Since we began as a fruit stand in 1948, Dorothy Lane Market has been locally owned and operated, and we have had lifelong relationships with local farmers. Most of our local products come from within an hour's drive away, and at maximum distance leaving the farm at breakfast and arriving to us by lunch time.

Over priced and hard to reach for answers
This is the email I received from DLM on April 2nd confirming I had a reserved ham for pickup today. The meat department guy made us feel stupid when we said we were there to pick up our ham. He said “where did you order it from?” in a rude tone. He said they sold out at 10am. He then told us we could talk to customer service. I was astonished that DLM, a place we have always CHOSEN to shop at over the big stores did nothing about this mistake. Stellar amazing awesome employees any you come across are just amazing. It's the chip on the shoulder stuck up customers that are the problem. They act like other people are peasants and should grovel in there presence. Beyond that though great place to shop.
Dorothy Lane market is doing the absolute best in responding to the social distancing requirements. The store has forever earned my loyalty over the larger mass-market stores. I don’t care if it’s a couple bucks higher. It is a far better value and exactly the kind of local store we need.
