He was very condescending and demeaning; I confided in him about some male issues I was experiencing and his response was, So what, you don't feel like a real MAN?? you think you're not MAN ENOUGH because of this issue? ... also, when he did the usual plastic glove finger test, he JAMMED it roughly as if he felt he had power over me. I left that office feeling degraded and angered.
Excellent knowledge and friendly style. Great medicine with a warm and friendly staff.
I had pneumonia last fall and Dr. Gutman did an excellent job managing my care and recovery.
He is more interested in talking than being a good doctor. When my husband had an operation on his bowel he never told us that there were cancer nodes detected. We we later told by his onocologist that this could have been treated if we had wanted. We might not have treated it but it should have been our choice. Perhaps he never read the pathologist report.
He has been my mother's doc for many years. He's a bit old-fashioned (doesn't use computerized records & such very often) but that's a GOOD thing because he REALLY takes the time to deal directly & thoroughly with his patients. Another plus is his friendly manner & dry humor. His age & experience are particularly well suited for "Greatest Generation" folks like my mother as well as aging Boomer patients (!).
I chose Dr. Gutman after a brief encounter with a different physician in Folsom. Dr. Gutman understands an active lifestyle and cares about the well being of his patients. His PA's are knowledgeable and caring as well. My wife and I have never had a bad experience at this practice.
Dr. Gutman treated me on and off over the past 18 years. I met him during an ER visit 18 years ago, he was the on-call physician. He took an interest in my condition at that time and helped resolve the problem. He seemed very knowledgeable, very professional and earned my trust. I've seen him regularly since then and would recommend him and his staff to anyone looking for a capable general practitioner with a great support staff.
Been going to Dr. Gutman for 26 years. He is the best, always tells it straight. If it had not been otherwise I would have not been with him this long. His support staff is also the best ever. I would refer any friend or relative to him, period end of report.
Dr. Gutman is an excellent Doctor, in his broad knowledge, as well a his specific knowledge in many areas. He actually cares about his patient, and actually listens when me, his patient, when I explain any medical or medical related problems, somewhat rare in these hard times. I would recommend him to any of my friends. That says it all. Thank you Dr. Gutman.
