I have been a Don Chilitos fan from way back when they had a location on The Landing. Their food is just as good now as it was back in the 80s...consistently good food and moderate prices!
You get what you pay for at most (honest) places. Don Chilitos isn't "fine dining" by any means... However, the food has always been delicious when my family has gone. The prices are reasonable - as are the portions. Yes, some (most popular) items are served from a cafeteria-type line; but, the food is kept fresh; replenished as needed; & several items are cooked to order - then they bring it to your table.
We started coming to Don Chilitos in 1974. We moved from Manhattan, KS to Rowland Park in ‘72 and then to Fairway in ‘74. Our neighbors across the street, Doug and Suzanne Rousallo introduced us to Don Chilitos. We moved to Topeka in ‘78 but we still come to KC and visit the restaurant from Tim to time. Always good, always good prices and great quantity for the price. Great people also. Lots of fun times at this great restaurant.
We live in Topeka. Every time we come to Kansas City, we eat here. In fact, we have been coming to Don Chilitos since my kids were little. They are grown now.
RecommendedGreat place to eat. Great food at a reasonable price. Love the management and workers. Always friendly and helpful. Have been going there for 40 years now and have no reason to stop. Food is always fresh and awesome!
Over 37 years and it is as good or maybe better than ever. Love it.
