I’m so incredibly thankful for this clinic. I’ve taken my 4 year old daughter (non speaking, autistic, cerebral palsy, I/DD,etc) here 3 times and even though it is chaotic and cramped, everyone has been really thorough and helpful. My daughter definitely needs restraining during visits and unfortunately it is traumatic, but that is how it is when you have a disabled and high needs child and you have to weigh the risk of medical trauma vs the risk of abscess teeth which could lead to heart issues, sepsis, or whatever. I’ve called several times now to get my son with special needs in because he needs sedation. We did the consultation and I was told it could be up to 6 months to get into an operating room. Over a year later… zero calls back.
I wish there would be an opportunity to place -1 star. My autistic 5 years old son developed teeth pain (cavities) and I contacted OHSU pediatric dentistry (school of dentistry). They asked for a referral with a mark “urgent”. They received the referral 11 days ago. I have been calling them and asking about the status of our referral. The answers were as following “we need 24-48hours to process”, “we sent your referral to “, “a doctor hasn’t yet processed”, “our scheduling manager will contact you if not today then tomorrow”... read more
NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE.... I took my 5 year old Autistic son here for dental work and I was told he would be given a tranquilizer (similar to Valium), and once he was very relaxed, he would be sedated via laughing gas (nitrous oxide), and also anesthetized (via Novocaine). The dentists at Doernbecher Dental took advantage of the fact that I was a single father with a 5 year old Autistic son, and 3 year old daughter.
