Concerns only Dr. Dodson Although I've had only good experience with all other vets and staff at Gettysburg Animal Hospital, Dr. Dodson was stunningly condescending and rude. I had been misinformed by his staff about when to arrive for a procedure for my pet. The hospital door was locked when I arrived (on time, re: the instructions), and no relevant staff was present. Won't go anywhere else I've been going to GAH since 1996 and I won't take my animals anywhere else. The vets there are willing to listen and explore other options and they don't rush to do unnecessary diagnostics or prescribed meds that aren't needed - that in itself saves tons of money. They also won't use your animal as a guinea pig - if it's out of their line of expertise, they say so and give you referrals. Deborah We take our 4 dogs and 5 cats to Gettysburg Ainmal Hospital and are always treated to great care. We have been going to Dr. Dodson and his staff for 20 years. During this time, we have also rescued pets that were "seniors" and when the time came to put them to sleep due to age, we were treated with dignity and sympathy. We even received sympathy cards in the mail to let us know how much they care. SInce they do not accept credit cards, the fees are always low and reasonable. Very Dissapointing I recently took my cat there and we saw Dr. Kulkinski. The whole reason I made the appointment was to have my cats anal glands drained because she has a funky smell going on and she has had diarrhea since I brought her home from the shelter. She refused to drain her anal glands. She didn't even check or look at her bottom. She only put her on some antimicrobial drugs and said if it didn't clear up to change her diet. Will not go there again I had my little dog over there a while ago..Annual shots were given.My pet got the virus that was to protect him..he died after a long fight to get him well..even got a new hospital..but sadly he died and with the state of Pa..there are no rules to protect your pet..for ver errors..wow
ms. Just a quick reply to the woman who will not go back because her dog got the virus it was vaccinated for: I am not a client of Gettysburg Vet, nor do I work there. Something the general public isn't aware of is that there is a small chance a disease can be contracted from a vaccine. Many vaccines are killed versions of the live virus, sometimes animals and people can actually get the illness they are being vaccinated for. A+ First... I'm very sorry to read the review about the poor pup that got too sick after his shots. It's unfortunate but we have to remember that Vets are humans too .. and we all know humans are far from perfect... therefore mistakes are possible. As far as my review... I adore these people. They have at one point completely saved the life of one of our cats and have one nothing but good things for my other cat and my dog. Jeannie and her six puppies My six puppies were born on February 25th, 2010 at Gettysburg Animal Hospital. I was very nervous when I arrived because my Bichon was shaking and panting. After the vet examined her he said that she was not having contraction but was ready to have her puppies. They gave her shots and the first puppy was coming backwards and was stuck in her canal. Cannot beat the prices or the Treatment I had found a stray young pup on my door step right before Thanksgiving and I decided after I was unable to find the owner to make him part of our family. I didn't know what shots he needed and he was not neutered yet. He appeared to be approx. 8-10 months old. I called ever Vet in Hanover to get a price on an exam basic shots and neutering.
