About this business

Dick's Drive-In is an iconic Seattle institution that's faithfully served the city the classic American combo of burger and fries since the 1950s. The Wallingford branch is the oldest and has been a neighborhood favorite since 1954. The take-away restaurant usually features long lines, though they move quite quickly. The retro ambiance and old-fashioned menu only add to the charm. Opt for a Dick's Deluxe Burger with a side of fries, washed down with a milkshake made the old-school way; be sure to leave your diet at home for ... read more

Best Place at 1:30 am – Okay, so Dick's isn't know for its gourmet burgers full of choice, but still it beats a McD's cheese any day of the week. If you drive past this joint at 1am you will find a line for miles...it is the best "after a night drinking" food hands down (it makes Taco Bell seem like dog food). Its a place for a greasy burger and fries...sometimes the burgers are a bit over done, but still you just can't beat it. It is a Seattle landmark and anyone looking for a made to order burger can go somewhere else...us... read more

A Seattle Tradition! – I live out of state now but everytime I come back home to Seattle, I head straight for Dick's to get my Deluxe burger "fix" and chase it down with one of their great chocolate shake!!! (ok, I'll admit I steer clear of the greasy, limp fries but my friends always order them w/tartar sauce.) I'm surprised to read some other readers low recommendations! They obviously DIDN'T grow up in Seattle eating Dick burgers and enjoying the nostalgia. Hey, even on cold, windy nights, Dick's has a line up of customer... read more

Seattle Legend – Dick's has three things working for it; great burgers, great (but greasy) fries, and great milkshakes. And you can't beat the prices. The place can get kind of busy at night but it's worth the wait to grab some burgers and go.

it's ok – The food here is good for a quick fix and a cheap way to satisfy that appetite but I wouldnt go so far as to label it first class fast food. The fries are limp and soggy, I prefer them crispy. As far as the hamburgers go, I personally cant see why this would be considered the best Seattle has to offer. I can undertand the nostagia long time Seattlelites have with Dicks, but even the local Denny's burger is a step above this place. Yes, I would come back here, if i was starving and happened to be around a Dicks, yes... read more

Get real!!! – Try one of the top burgers from the other states!! This is a small wussy burger of fair quality in comparison - almost in the category of Castle burgers!!!! What a joke when I moved out here......... But people are cool, fires are great, and ambiance is pure tradition.

bad burgers – You've got to be kidding me! How is dicks on this list? I am a recent transplant from Nebraska, and I was shocked not to see Bob's Bar or the whole state of Nebraska for top burgers! Dicks has a great atmosphere, but the burgers are barely a step up from a McDonalds 69 cent value burger.....c'mon, this place has sub par burgers with a cute atmosphere ask any real beef person and they'll tell you.

The 19¢ Burger Lives! – As kids of the 1950's, we ended Friday & Saturday nights by dining at Ricardo's Club 19 (remember the "Dick's 19¢ Burgers" sign on 45th?). A bag of 5 burgers for a buck! - had to choke 'em down while they were warm, though (they still have a 19¢ burger, but the price has gone up). Now I can afford the Deluxe, living large in Grease Heaven...

Dick's is cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've eaten there......more than once and found it edible. It works if you're drunk and out late and desperate for something to soak up the alcohol in your tummy.
