Dick's Drive-In is an iconic Seattle institution that's faithfully served the city the classic American combo of burger and fries since the 1950s. The Wallingford branch is the oldest and has been a neighborhood favorite since 1954. The take-away restaurant usually features long lines, though they move quite quickly. The retro ambiance and old-fashioned menu only add to the charm. Opt for a Dick's Deluxe Burger with a side of fries, washed down with a milkshake made the old-school way; be sure to leave your diet at home for ... read more

Yummy for my Tummy! – What is everyone talking about..........."The fries are too greasy!" Come on, if they aren't greasy they aren't fries! I absolutely love their fries, the best thing on the menu. Get them with tarter sauce, nothing better. I always get a deluxe and chocolate shake to go with. Yummy! Everytime we are in Seattle we make our way to 45th for the yummiest, greasiest fries in town.
Vile, Nasty Food – I have lived in Seattle for 12 years, and have heard this place raved about enough to try it - twice. It was some of the worst food I have ever had - both times. I think the reason people like it is that it is tradition to like it. The only other explanation might be that people who like it have never eaten anywhere decent, so they don't know what good food is. I am sure that compared to a burger made in England or Peru it probably does taste good. Neither of those places are known for their hamburgers, or... read more
Not even good when drunk! – Wendy's 99 cent menu has better food and is way cheaper. The burgers were small and flavorless, the fries were soggy, the milkshake was icy. Don't let the locals convince you to eat at Dicks
Keep On Driving!! – I have no idea why this place is so 'legendary'. The food is terrible. The burgers are small and lack flavor--all I tasted was some disgusting sweet sauce on a meat patty. The fries? I don't even want to go there. Floppy, soggy, brown. I went here when I was starved, and it didn't taste good at all. But if you are like me, you are going to try it out anyway because so many rave about it. Don't Bother!!! Those who rave about it are stuck in a nostalgic time warp! There is SO much food in Seattle, just driv... read more
The Worlds Best Burger – I grew up by the Dicks on 45th. I have moved out of state now but every time I come home Dicks is the first place I go. My family knows that I go there every day while I am in town. I have wanted to open up a franchise where I live but I have been told it is impossible. The Dicks Deluxe is the Worlds Greatest Burger.
tastes good if your drunk – Eating at Dicks can only be likened to eating the worm at the bottom of a bottle of Mescal. You do it cause they talked you into it or you do it cause its the tradition. The help acts like Dicks is the burger Mecca of the universe. Dicks is McDonalds without ambition. Asking for mustard on your burger gets the kind of reaction you might get if you asked the Pope to endorse abortion. The best part of Dicks is the exit that takes you away from this dive.
affordable but very busy – cheap and affordable.... fries are real potatoes not frozen....a little on the greasy side hamburgers are great.....get a deluxe...... Instead of a soft drink .....try there milk shake or a root beer float....they are very good ...althougth the lines are long it moves very quickly.....parking is sometimes a real hassle
Fries – I grew up eating these burgers and loved them. Returning as an adult I find the burgers average and the fries disgusting. The fries are so greasy they are limp from all the oil. You can see all the grease staining the bag as you walk away. Yuk! But it is affordable.
local flavor, big taste – If you only have 4 dollars, you will eat well at Dick's walk in burger joint in Wallingford. You don't have to drive, walk up, order and within minutes you have fresh (not frozen) fries and a choice of two burgers. Been around over 50 yrs, prices havent changed much. A working class place for any body.
