Like one reviewer said… she never wants to refill prescriptions. I have asthma but through specialized breathing techniques I rarely (1-2x every year or two) will use my inhaler. And it’sa good thing I do it this way because she doesn’t even want to give me an inhaler once every 5 years. I use old ones because she wants to argue with me over it, wants me to use some stupid plastic thing to measure and record my lung output daily. I have great lungs. I swim a lot and have zero problems. I’ve only stayed with her because of my... read more
I think Dr. Arteaga is fantastic! She always listens to and respects my thoughts about my health and what I'd like to try. She is very encouraging, even with the smallest improvement in weight, blood composition tests, etc. We share a goal to get me off of any and all prescriptions and I really respect that!!
Business response:
Trish, thank you for your feedback as we love to hear about these positive experiences. We aim to deliver an exceptional experience and the highest quality care.
She is super paranoid about refilling medications that she doesn't feel you need without listening to why I was started on them in the first place. The only exam she has ever done on me was listen to my heart and lungs. She sends you out for GYN and breast exams, only orders lab tests, and has you come in often times for nothing. She doesn't listen very well either because she will ask the same thing over and over and never let's you finish a sentence. Overall, not thorough for a primary Dr.
When I make an appt, I'm always hoping she's not available, and I can see the nurse practitioner. For the most part, she runs tests, and refers me to other doctors. I don't feel she listens to me. I've been referred to so many 'specialists' that I now have at least 1 or 2 appointments every month. Each specialist wants you to check in every 3 months. I take 1 anxiety medication & one antidepressant and she said that was too much for her & referred me to a psychiatrist who's not close.
She doesn't "doctor ". she refers. She's doesn't let me have any say in my medical care. I'm changing immediately.
While she is thorough in reviewing your medical problems, she seems uncomforable sometimes with treating a patient and tends to refer you out to a specialist. For example, the information listed on her profile on the Mercy website says she treats diabetes, when in fact, she insisted on teferring me to a specialist for treatment. She has done that on more than one occasion.
