I recently inquire a rental under Helen Zhou. When I informed her we have an ESA and that we have paperwork, she would only respond with “Sorry, no pets.” Per California law, ESA are not categorized and recognized as pets. To qualify for an emotional support animal in California, you need an ESA letter from a California-licensed mental health professional, which I informed her we have.
