I thought he knew what he was doing.I had cataract surgery a few months ago that substantially improved my vision without glasses. Unlike a few people here I didn’t find him arrogant.I found him confident and competent.

Dr. Ohlstein is an exceptional eye surgeon. He explains your options and is not pushy. His staff are all very professional and kind. I am so happy with the results of my cataract surgery. It is wonderful to be able to see clearly again without the need of glasses. The procedure was painless and quick. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My name is Barry Cohen and I had my cataracts surgery on both eyes performed at Saint Lucie Eye Associates. I am sorry to say that for me it was a horrible experience! My original doctor there and the doctor that did my cataracts surgery on both eyes was Dr. Derek Ohlstein. Since I make my living online I paid many thousands of dollars extra on top of the regular surgery cost to have multi-focal lenses implanted into my eyes because I was assured by Dr. Ohlstein that with these lenses I would be able to see well at both dist... read more

Had appt. for a routine eye exam with Dr. Ohlstein and was shocked at his arrogant and unfriendly attitude, what has changed in his life, he used to be friendly and asked if you had any questions. I need a cataract removed and I sure don't want him doing it.

I recently had cataract surgery with Dr. Olstein and it was the best experience, he explained everything and answerd questions for me and put me very much at ease. I found the staff very helpful and friendly including Katrina the surgical coordinator who i found to be helpful. I wil definitely recommend the practice to everyone. I had my cataracts surgery on both eyes performed at Saint Lucie Eye Associates. This was a horrible experience! The doctor that did the cataracts surgery on both eyes was Dr Derek Ohlstein. I paid thousands of extra dollars for multi focal lenses so I could see well for both distances and for reading (without glasses). The bottom line is the FEMTO laser misfired and left me with a permanent blur in my right eye and due to implanting the wrong prescription lenses I can't read without glasses!

I saw Dr. Ohlstein once, at which point I cautioned him that my corneas were sensitive and prone to abrasions before he examined me. His exam caused extensive corneal abrasions. When I left the office, my eyes were still numb. Once the numbing drops wore off, I returned to the office, where he examined me and told me there were no abrasions, that I must be having an allergic reaction. An assistant told me later that she could see the abrasions from across the room. Do NOT recommend.

I like the time Dr. Ohlstein took in the exam room with me and the fact that he didn't mind any of my questions!
