I've been coming here for a few years and honestly I think it's fantastic. Often state services get a bad rap but I've living in a lot of states and dealt with a lot of different services and this place is different. I struggle with depression and I feel the staff here really, really cares about how I'm doing. I can't say enough about this place. :-)
Well, it's better than nothing. Your typical "do the bare minimum" public mental health service. As long as you're not looking for work, not looking for help with public transportation, financial independence/skills, life skills, cognitive behavioral therapy or other necessary services for a mental health patient and just need some meds, I guess this is the place to go.
This place is a fucking joke. People that work here are mostly idiots and it's an endless loop of "not my job" and not one bit of help. This place makes things worse than they actually help. You people should be ashamed of yourselves.
I've worked here for 10 years !!! The people we serve are deserving of so much more than we can offer, but I am thankful for an organization that keeps trying.
Here is a great support group for the MHMR clients at 525 S Locust Denton, TX 76201 on Thursdays at 2pm -4:30pm
They were able to help me get back on my feet. Intake can be challenging.
