She walked into the room and informed a dementia patient that he likely had prostate cancer that had metastasized...he became visably upset because all he could heard was cancer. She continued on without any concern for his emotional state and went into a full blown treatment plan until we stopped her. I am a nurse and I have never seen a provider exercise such poor judgment when talking with a dementia patient and their family.
