I called Delta Dental of California on 4/6/2020 @ 1:35 PM and spoke to a lady named: Concetta. Let me begin to say that this lady is the most unprofessional person in the this corporation. I called the 1x00-3x5-x273, the grievance department. Boy she is in the wrong department. She was not only rude, unapologetic and hung up on me. I was simply trying to get an update on my case and she got very smart and her tone of voice became very aggressive. Does she realize that I pay monthly to keep this service going. We are not requ... read more
Delta Dental is absolutely the very worst company for customer service. They intentionally have bad customer service when you wish to cancel your account. Not only do they provide next to nothing in coverage (you can actually get similar discounts from dentists if you pay by cash or check and tell your dentist that you don't have insurance), but Delta Dental makes it extremely difficult to cancel your account. THIS IS INTENTIONAL!!! The strategy is one in which that they believe the more they frustrate you the more likely yo... read more
Business response:
Delta Dental of California wants to make sure the reviewers concerns are addressed. Based on the information provided we were not able to find this customer. If the reviewer can provide identifying information confidentially, such as their date of birth we can make sure they get the help they need from whichever company is responsible and bring this to a resolution.
I apologize for the long read, but this has been my experience. I am an office manager for a privately owned dental office. Delta Dental gives me the most problems out of all the dental insurances that I deal with on a daily basis. The patient's dental insurance must be verified before their appointment or at the very least, the day of. I personally want to know EXACTLY what the patients' coverage is, so that I can accurately estimate what their treatment is going to cost. No one likes surprises when it comes to finances. Ma... read more
Business response:
Delta Dental is taking strides in improving the dentist's experience and we will have someone contact the dental office directly.
MARCH-29 2016 my husband died. This was reported and finalized to all service providers by JUNE-2016. I moved NOV-2016 to a new county, and so, found a new dentist. During the billing, I learned that my son's information had been changed by DELTA DENTAL. This is evidence that information had been received by DELTA DENTAL in order for my profile information to have been changed. I'd never had any profile changes since 2005, and all my prior bills to my original dentist show this. On investigation by my employer, it was found ... read more
Business response:
The reviewer's comments are important to Delta Dental. A formal internal review of the complaint is underway and Delta Dental will contact the reviewer directly.
The customer service for this insurance provider is terrible. After a claim was denied for a dental procedure to get crowns my dentist and I appealed to get at least partial coverage of cost. Delta Dental denied 100% of the cost. They used stalling tactics at every turn in the appeal process taking weeks or months to get back to me on my claim and bouncing me around to different representatives whom I had to explain the who process and grievance to over and over again. They are certainly not interested in providing support f... read more
Business response:
The reviewer's plan is provided to him via his employer and Delta Dental's contract with his employer stipulates the claim should be denied. After the initial denial the appeal review was completed in the amount of time allowed by the State of CA. The review included additional documentation and narratives from the reviewer's dentist. On the letter sent to the reviewer for that appeal decision there were also instructions on how to submit a second level appeal to an external review organization if he was still unsatisfied wi... read more
I had a root planing and scaling on April 1st, before proceeding with this treatment, the doctor's office sent out a request regarding coverage of this treatment and later it got approved, so I went ahead and started it on April 1st. However, several days later, my dentist called and said Delta Dental denied this payment therefore I have to pay for the rest $370. I called the customer service because I feel like unfair and I should've been notified beforehand, besides the dental office did submit my request way before, howev... read more
Business response:
Enrollee and dentist are provided provisional approvals/denial letter when requested. At times a provisional approval is granted but then more claims are submitted, this will cause the annual maximum to be reached before the approved treatment can be completed. Once Delta Dental pays the maximum benefit for the year allowed by an Enrollee's employer additional amounts cannot be paid. The phone call referenced will be reviewed immediately and instruction on how to appeal the decision are mailed with each claim benefit letter.
I called the Delta Dental customer service number to ask to change my dental plan and ask about other plans available. My call was transfered by the customer service person to someone I assumed could help me. I told the woman who answered that I was interested in other cheaper plans offered by Delta Dental. She told me there was a plan for "$91.00 a yr." that sounded too good to be true but I told her I would be interested. Here comes the bad part. She said she would "just need my credit card number". the red flags in my hea... read more
I recently transitioned my business's dental insurance over to Delta Dental. What a mistake. My employees applications were not processed correctly, and the billing was not done correctly. Their customer service department was in no way helpful, and completely incapable of answering simple questions or correcting their own errors. If you are thinking of moving to this company, think again.
This is the complaint I filed to the total incompetents at Delta Dental via Facebook message. Take heed folks. We signed up for Delta Dental at the beginning of the year and gave a credit card to cover the first two months of the year. Thereafter you were supposed to deduct XXX.XX amount every month direct from the bank. You never did. We called and wanted to verify all the info to make sure they had the right routing number etc. We were told that you system showed it to be paid and that as far they were concerned there was ... read more
