I was born in Riverside in 1955. We had grinders for take out at the little stand on every special occasion. My parents bowled at Tavalanes and often we would eat grinders afterwards. We moved to Austin, Tx in 1965 and those Grinders and looking at the first snow on Mt. Baldy are my best memories of California. I’ve never found another sandwich that even came close to yours!
