Best seafood in the Midwest – Davis Street Fishmarket is an awesome restaurant. I wish there was one in Chicago. However, it is worth the drive to Evanston to have dinner there. Obviously seafood is not what Chicago is known for, so having a wonderful place like Davis Street for lobster, crab legs, gumbo, is awesome! Thanks for many great lunches and dinners!
Evanston has better seafood options – The restaurant was empty, yet crumbs and grease streaked the table. Somebody couldn't be bothered to clean up. Not a good first impression. Davis Street Fishmarket is known for its fresh fish, but we were disappointed on all counts. An appetizer of New Bedford Clam Strips was three parts fried dough to one part clam. The Steamed Maine Whole Lobster was overcooked and a little tough, sweet but too chewy. The tin of drawn butter was dotted with mysterious unappetizing flecks. Grilled Sea S... read more
Spectacular Seafood – Everything is great. The firecracker shrimps and blackened calamari appetizers are wonderful. We're very pleased with the main course as well (trout and grouper). We'll definitely go back again and again soon.
Evnaston's version of Red Lobster – Mediocre at best. Scallops were overdone, gumbo was bland, but the beer was cold and that saved the evening. Probably too much on the menu to really specialize in great tasting entres. It's probably a real treat for NU students, but for a more mature palate, this place is just average.
User review by kidsnextdoor – I have been here on several occassions for lunch, dinner etc. and overall it is pretty good (the food as well as the service). i don't ever remember the restaurant getting too crowded. My friends call me a cake connoiseur and their Chocolate Drunk Cake.....is worth trying!
An extensive seafood menu and kitschy, family-friendly atmosphere draw a crowd to this longtime Evanston favorite. – The Scene With nautical memorabilia on the walls and a big fish tank in the dining room, Davis Street Fishmarket has a casual, comfortable atmosphere that helps pack in customers nightly. Tables are tight in the low-lit dining room, which buzzes with families and dates; if you want to stretch out, grab a high table in the more laid-back bar area. The Food Dozens of seafood options range from lobster and crab t... read more
ms – fun casual atmosphere, good seafood with specials that change daily. gets a little noisy and seating gets a bit close when crowded.
bitch bass – the food at Davis Street Fishmarket is overall awsome resturant. The server did not seem to be on top of things. the ambience is so interesting and fun to look at. Not having a manger present to see how everything is going to me is very unprofessional. To me the great food makes up for some of cons of the resturant.
Friendly confines – Their soups are worth the visit alone. . . great oysters. . . friendly staff. . . relaxed seating in the oyster-bar area
