Dr Hwang is worth any wait, any time. He did both of my corneal transplants in 2021. I have Fuchs’ Dystrophy and was rapidly going blind. My eyesight is now amazing and clear! I drive three hours each way to see him. Yes, it takes months to get into see him, but once you are in his practice, if you need his expertise fast, they’ll get you in faster. Before my cataract surgery Dr. Hwang and I discussed why I was having the surgery. I said that I wanted to be able to read foreign film subtitles on television and read street signs, both of which I could no longer read with my prescription glasses. Post cataract surgery on my right eye, subtitles on television are out of focus and most street signs I can not read. My right eye vision never became clear. I have a focal point 20 inches in front of my face. I cancelled my left eye cataract surgery.

It took over 6 months to secure an appointment with Dr. Hwang via his scheduler Jasmine (which is fine, I understand he is a world renowned cornea specialist). After many unanswered voicemails and emails, I was finally able to see him on June 4th, 2021. I drove from my residence in Monterey CA to his clinic at UCSF (over 100 mi) because I was told UCSF Opthalmology was the best of the best, and perhaps they are when it comes to treating certain patients.
