I think you're probably okay as a contractor, but you can do better if you're a homeowner looking for an honest assessment of a job. My old contractor built a structurally unsound covered deck that failed numerous inspections, with the main concern being a lack of support for the roof. He hired Darden and their engineer told me the solution would be "whatever is the quickest and cheapest" because the project had gone over budget.
