We had dinner at Dana's Rusty Anchor on Sunday night 8/27. This restaurant is a hidden gem on Lake Champlain. We arrived by boat and we're given directions to a slip. The menu had so many choices. I had the coconut shrimp and it was delicious. The service was also excellent and our food came out quickly. The view from the dining room is fabulous overlooking the marina and the West side of Valcour Island. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our waitress was new (2 weeks), but did an excellent job! There were only two waitresses for the whole establishment when we were there !!! Poor scheduling??? She was attentive and did a great job! The busboy was also very excellent he came around often and filled our water glasses and asked if we needed anything great job! The food however was poor!! We had a wonderful meal there this evening, food was delicious, and was served hot, and service was good! We came by boat, and docking was easy as well. Definitely plan to come back
We have been to this place several times. It's very inconsistent. Last night we had an extremely inexperienced waiter. Didn't know the difference between our drinks we ordered, service was very slow and then my meal came out incorrect. Had to take the correct thing to go after 2 hours of being there for a table of 2! Person I was with said meal was horrible, fish tasted frozen. Baked potato hard as a rock, as was mine! Definitely not a great experience. Let's hope this changes as there aren't many places on the water to eat
After waiting for an hour and a half, we ended up leaving because we never got our food. It took 40 minutes to get our appetizers (a bowl of soup and a garden salad). Our waitress never came back and apologized about the wait or asked us for another drink. It wasn't really busy either. We weren't the only table experiencing these issues either. It's unfortunate that a place with such a nice view can't function the way it should.
My wife and I had great service, very friendly, and the food was just as good!! Very good experience!!
