Apparently the Cumberland County Prosecutors office employs some of the most ignorant and pathetic excuses for Americans in this country. Spending time and money to prosecute an elderly law abiding citizen for cooperating with law enforcement and owning a piece of history is unacceptable by any stretch of the imagination. Does your entire state lack common sense...or is it just your particular office that is completely insane? Our forefathers are probably rolling over in their graves right now.

Surely Ripley's or Guiness Records have a place for your Stratospheric Ignorance and Stupidy demonstrated while dealing with the retired teacher! Honestly, Universities need to document this to teach how ridiculous a public servant can act. This one is truly hostoric.

Nice job with the Van Gilmer case. Good to know that a gaggle of losers whose only way of feeling any kind of power is to prosecute retired school teachers for having an antique gun that were made in the 1700's. This is why people make jokes about New Jersey being the worst state in the union. The Sheriff's Department is just as screwed up and stupid. New Jersey will never see any of my tourist or investment dollars.

Treating Mr. Van Gilder like a common thug is redicilous. Our judges lower sentences of murderers. The sheriffs officers who stopped him are incompetent, and unprofessional. I understand our county is infested with thugs and crime, but how is a 72 year old man cooperating a threat? I guess you can't teach common sense. Our entire county judicial system is pathetic. They are scared to punish real criminals.

I would believe the police department and your office would have better things to do; besides arresting a 72 year old retired teacher. He had a 250 plus year old flintlock pistol. Not really worth the negative attention, which your office is getting.

Traitors all of you for trying to utterly destroy Mr. Gilders life. You should be charged with violating this mans civil rights. I would like to know who the smart one is over there who said we are waiting for ballistics on 250+ year old antique flintlock....
